Trained Volunteers are central to the mission of all Junior Leagues. To make certain that we are fulfilling that mission, the Junior League of Williamsport is developing an ongoing and comprehensive training development program for our members . Our goal is to enhance the capabilities of our members and foster emerging leaders for future roles within the Junior League of Williamsport and within the community at large.

To help prepare future leaders, the League offers courses in three areas:

• Leadership Certification curriculum will provide training in the skills that are essential for anyone pursuing or training for leadership positions within the League. The Junior League is initiating the Leadership Certificate program to address the diverse needs that arise in the volunteer experience. The purpose of this program is to provide applicable skill sets, which will benefit members in their League service activities as well as in their personal and professional lives.
  
• League Enhancement classes will be designed to train our volunteers in skills necessary for specific roles within the League. Classes such as Leading a Successful Meeting, Public Speaking, and Working with Volunteers will be offered to enrich voluntarism.
  
• Personal Enhancement classes will emphasize personal skill enhancement. This category will cover the widest variety of interests to help us cultivate our personal lives. These courses will vary each year in accordance with the interests of our members.

The above training courses are open to both League and Non-League Members.

In addition, our General Membership Meeting guest speakers provide opportunities for our members to interact with community leaders. These speakers help to increase our awareness of current community programs and needs.

Finally, twenty percent of the Education Committee’s budget will be set aside this year to enable members to attend relevant training seminars that occur within our community. If you become aware of training within the community that would benefit our members, please contact the Education Committee, so that we may pass the information on to all members. If you are a JLW member and would like to apply for an out-of-league training opportunity, please contact the Education Committee for consideration.
